Many recruiters take a mechanical/formulaic approach to a search, considering only candidates with parallel sector experience and qualifications. While we are of course always mindful of the client’s brief, we place just as much importance on broader skills around communication, relationship building and leadership. "Empathy" is not a skill code on a database to us. We can share many stories of a wild card on the shortlist being the preferred candidate and carving a successful career.

In the art of recruitment, clear and effective communication helps you to stand out from your peers. A compelling message from your leadership team, highlighting your culture and core values can deliver a potent message at the start of a search. Equally, a candidate’s cover letter and CV must tell an effective and reasoned story.
